In 1744, there were 13 rules of golf, which were first applied in the first British Open in 1754. Since 1897, R&A (Royal Classical Golf Club) has assumed responsibility for the maintenance and modification of golf rules. Golf withdrew from the Olympic Games in 1936, but the development did not stop. The North American continent continues to set off a climax of golf, and the rules have been ambiguous due to regional, cultural, and political differences. Since 1951, the golf rules have been jointly reviewed by R&A and the USGA (United States Golf Association) and revised every four years. The golf rules formulated by R&A and USGA maintain the order of golf. With the continuous development of golf, the attention of major golf events in the world sports continues to increase. Finally, in 2016, golf returned to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this context, R&A and USGA have revised the golf rules and they will be promulgated and implemented on January 1, 2019.
